VM Drilling was established in 2004 with its workshop and operations based in Kalgoorlie, and offices in Perth. Since then, the company has grown into a reputable mid-sized drilling contractor with more than 70 full-time employees and a solid management team. They have earned a reputation for being a customer-focused and high-service drilling contractor, providing innovative and professional drilling solutions to the Australian mining industry.
VM Drilling was established in 2004 as a one-rig company and grew organically to a reputable mid-size company. Today, the business operates up to 14 rigs and possesses extensive experience within the mining industry.
VM Drilling specialises in track-based drilling services and owns 5 Epiroc ROC L8 drills and 8 Epiroc D65 drills. The company recently underwent a strategic review, which shifted its focus to specialising in providing quality and cost-effective grade control and first-pass exploration drilling services. They achieve this vision by using versatile and small-footprint Epiroc ROC series drill rigs.
The mining services provided by VM Drilling include:
• Grade Control Drilling
• RC Drilling
• Air Core Drilling
• Exploration Drilling
There are a total of 14 rigs, which include:
• 5 Epiroc L8
• 8 Epiroc D65
• 1 Austex X235
These rigs burn less fuel than larger RC rigs. They are also low-impact and low-ground pressure tracked rigs. The operator's cabin is enclosed and has air conditioning.
VM Drilling rigs have two sample drawers with a chamber between them. This design allows the sample to fall freely and uncontaminated into the cone splitter, providing true and accurate sampling. VM Drilling uses digital drill reports recorded on iPads to collect daily drill data. All VM Drilling rigs are equipped with hands-free rod handling and break-out systems.
